Sure, it’s the thought that counts, but do you really want to say “Congratulations” or “Happy Anniversary” with something you had to grab at the gas station on your way to the party? Between wedding season all the graduations, first communions, and the slew of anniversaries and birthdays coming up, you’re going to need a collection of cards at the ready. Hurry over to my shop to pick up one of my brand new sets of 3 screen-printed blank cards- they even come with coordinating envelopes and matching gift tags.

Because I love all kinds of materials and processes and because one can never have too many projects on their desk, (gasp!) I’ve decided it’s time to follow through with some of the fine art-ish ideas swirling in the ‘ol noggin. I’m excited and ready for input, so I thought now is a good time to share. This installation will be at the Worcester Art Museum during Massachusetts Art All-State in at the end of the month.
I’ve been playing around with crinoline, a stiff, sheer fabric that folds and tears like paper. That’s the material you’re seeing in white (above) and in red (below)
in a mixed media- print/collage/drawing that will soon be in my shop.
and this stuff on my desk is what I’m working with next.

New in My Shop…Quilted Coasters
0 Comments Published April 28th, 2008 in My Favorite Things, New in My Shop, Patterns in Nature.I love how these turned out. I paired the Mosaic plant in bright, warm weather colors on Vineyard Green with my beloved yellow vintage printed tablecloth cotton. Yes, an actual vintage tablecloth; wonderfully soft but still durable since it comes from a time when more things were made well. Modern, handmade, and determined to save your table from icy-drink puddles. Hurry over to my shop to check them out before they’re gone!

San Diego: Day 6, the Last
0 Comments Published April 24th, 2008 in Ideas and Inspiration, My Favorite Things, Patterns in Nature. Our final day we picniced and walked along the beach at Torrey Pines State Reserve
We hiked a few of the shorter trails and even saw a rattlesnake that was too quick for my camera. For city folk like us, seeing a rattle snake in the wild is a big deal.
California poppies. I’ve since planted some seeds to have a colorful memory of our trip at home.
And what better way to end a week in California, than with some fish tacos they were on my San Diego to-do list so asked around and found out that Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill had the best in San Diego. I ‘ve never had them at a non-chain restaurant, so I have little to compare them too, but these were absolutely amazing! When you’re in San Diego you must eat some.

San Diego Day 4: Design District and Little Italy
2 Comments Published April 19th, 2008 in Uncategorized. On the morning of the fourth day I found the website of San Diego’s Art and Design District in the Little Italy neigborhood…
… so we checked out Subtext, a great design bookstore and gallery with a collection of books to pine for…
CTM (Classic Tile Mosaic) where I considered how I would tile the modular home of my dreams…
… and chatted with a friendly store keeper at Igloo, a fresh shop owned by a graphic designer, about all the great design shops and eats in SD.
Bob also picked up a great tee at facevalue, a store we would frequent if we lived in SD, but we didn’t take any photos there. Here’s their blog if you want to check it out though. We ended day four by picking up some skirt shark and locally caught yellowtail from Blue Water Seafood Market and Grill on India St. to cook for dinner at our friends’ place.
Day 3 of our trip to San Diego was a beautiful day of walking around and visiting the museums and gardens at Balboa Park
Bob’s fly new hat served very well in the California sun.
This is a Clown Fig. I wish these would grow in New England.
Me in the Japanese Friendship Garden. Had some great buckwheat soba noodle/ tofu soup at The Tea Pavillion.
