Surfing isn’t a big deal along the midatlantic coast–at least not like in southern California.
But, if you want to try anyway, the closest beaches are Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ocean City, Maryland and Rehobeth, Delaware. All are directly on the ocean so you’ll get some waves. All are a 3-4 hour drive from where you are.
You won’t get big enough waves to surf anywhere near there. If you go further south sure but in ocean city of any of those delaware beaches you get just about enough to boogie board.
