We stayed at the Breakers Hotel http://www.breakersresort.com/ It was a great location, right on the boardwalk in the middle of it all. The hotel also has a pool.
There are multiple pavilions on the boardwalk offering family friendly entertainment (such as movies/magicians/other performances) You can read more about it here: http://www.beachstreetusa.com/beachstreetusa_web_site_043.htm
There were also multiple places on the boardwalk that offered family bikes for rent (I’ve never seen these before, but here’s an example of one: http://www.seagullmotel.com/images/BikesforWeb.jpg)
