Virginia Beach – The Place to Be

What saltwater fish can I catch in Virginia Beach right now?

I go surf fishing and I was wondering if anyone in the Hampton Roads was catching anything besides bluefish and stripers

They are doing quite well with Tau Togs. Good article in this mornings Va pilot about a 18.2lb tog caught at the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. They are also catching some good size sea bass on the off shore wrecks. They have head boats that will take you out from Virginia beach fishing center for sea bass and togs. Some speckled trout were caught a couple of weeks ago inside rudee inlet but haven’t heard any news about them being there since. Specs are still being caught in the “hot ditch” but I would not eat anything caught out of there. Tight lines my friend.

“besides bluefish and stripers” they aren’t enough….

Why don’t you try going fishing up at Cheatham Annex – they have landlocked stripers and largemouths that bite really good until about April (Jan – thru april) then the lakes get overgrown with weeds

I think it is just striper right now
