Virginia Beach – The Place to Be

Where is a better place to go on vacation – Savannah or Charleston?

We are planning on saving money and driving for vacation down south in mid-April (we live in Virginia). Which of these cities would be better for a 5 - 6 day vacation? We are NOT looking for good clubs or nightlife. We also are trying to avoid the Easter vacation crowds - I figured either of these cities would be better than the beach.

we visit charleston usually once a month because we have friends there…in april it will be extremely crowded. there will be a lot to do as far as the food tents and stuff going on down at the park though. great restaurants aplenty…lots of strolling…you may get bored after 2 days though. Ive been to savannah….gorgeous…yummy food as well…again just really laid back.

Visiting Charleston, Savannah and the area between the tow cities is one of our favorite week long trips. We also do not like nightclubs. We like to stay at a cottage on the Broad River near Beaufort SC, Palm Key, http://www.palmkey.com These peaceful cottages have views, rockingchair porches, full kitchens and area great place to use as a base for exploring the area. We do one day in historic Savannah, one day in historic Charleston, one day at the Plantations along the Ashley River Road outside of Charleston (Magnolia, Middleton, Drayton Hall), one day in Beaufort and exploring the natural beaches at Hunting Island State Park where we climb the lighthouse for the view. Also old Sheldon church near Palm Key. Have fun on your trip.
