Virginia Beach – The Place to Be

where to have a romantic dinner for two?

My fiance and I are getting married in a private ceremony on Virginia Beach and were wondering if anyone could recommend a romantic restaurant where the two of us can dine after wards.

Ummm… I really don’t know what restraunts are near you. So I really can’t help you. Maybe you should go and see what some restraunts you like and choose the best, fanciest, most expensive one.

    Steinhilber’s Thalia Acres Inn

    The Scene
This charming cabin (built in 1937) with its cozy fireplace has long been a local dining favorite. The wooden deck has lovely views of the Lynnhaven River; an open dining room with 20-foot A-frame ceilings recalls a small church from days gone by. The small bar off to the left serves as a holding area; with 60 different kinds of wine and 30 brands of beer, it’s not a bad place to wait.

    The Food
Since 1939, this Virginia Beach mainstay has built a following by having the best jumbo fantail shrimp in Tidewater. In addition to its reputation, the split shrimp comes with a house orange sauce that’s like Thousand Island dressing, but better. Other seafood entrees fare just as well. Lobster bisque gets smooth flavoring from a shot of bourbon; filet of flounder–golden on top; snow white in the middle–is overstuffed with shrimp, oysters or back fin crab meat. Family recipes predominate. Don’t bother asking for the secret ingredients. Just sit back and enjoy them.

Location: 653 Thalia Road, VBeach – 757-340-1156. (Be sure to call for directions–this is not on the beaten path!)
